Eggs For Easter

A few days before Easter, Mama spotted these eggs at the store, and so began our preparation for Easter this year. I am happy to report, that we are more 'prepared' this year as compared to last year. Getting these eggs is just the beginning ...

Given Kecil's impatience (she was with me when I bought the eggs, so naturally she was wondering why I bought them for. Then I had to explain a bit about egg hunting. You can guess the rest of the story...), we ended up 'playing' egg-hunt at the back yard, quite a few days before Easter itself.
Consider it a dry-run, if you will, hmm....

The best part, of course, was that I had to take turn with her, 'hiding' and 'finding' the eggs. Yah.. as much as we can hide those pretty good sized eggs in our small, bare backyard. Haha...

Having done the egg-hunt, Mama lined up another egg-citing activitiy for Easter day itself. I had set aside a few empty egg shells since the previous day, and yesterday, we got cracking and painted those!
(Forgive me for the pun. I can't resist!)
We had fun with paints, markers, and even some masking tape!
And then we moved on to dyes.

Well... actually we just used normal food coloring, some hot water and vinegar. Kecil had a lot of fun fighting for turn with Mama. At the end of the process, we got some pretty pink and yellow painted egg shells.

The shell surface looked pretty enough, but the insides of the shells were dyed to vivid red/yellow!
And by the way, the resulting egg shells not only delighted the Little Girl and Mama, they also made the dog interested! I think it must be the vinegar smell.

And of course we had to play another round of egg-hunt using the painted/dyed eggs. In the process of hiding the eggs, however, a fight ensued to keep the Dog AWAY from the eggs! The Dog ended up being sent back inside.

And so we enjoyed our own private Easter egg hunt on Easter day.
We hope you had a good Easter holiday as well! Happy Easter!
