Holiday 2013: Semarang 1
The first instalment of the Holiday 2013 was sooo long ago, Mama had forgotten what it was all about. Luckily, there are still the pictures to guide us along. Mama is NOT giving up the series yet!
Anyway, continuing with our holiday (last year, ahem....) I believed we spent a day or two in Surabaya before embarking on our planned roadtrip to 'kidnap' Opa and Tante Lia to spend New Year together in Surabaya.
It was a very long drive the first day, since our aim was to get to Semarang where we already booked a hotel for the night. So... no pictures. Once in Semarang, however, it was a different story.
For one, we chose the hotel not because of the size of the room (it was pretty small, actually, and we got twin bed!). But it has a pretty good recommendation, with decent pricing, and.... get this, an infinity pool on top of its 30 storey building. Haha....
Woo hoo... ain't it cool? Kecil was at first terrified to be brought to the edge. I guess she might thought she could have fallen through the edge or something. No such thing, of course, and she breathed a bit easier after one trip to the edge.
It was a bit chilly so high up there in the morning, so we didn't stay too long before we went back down to get ready for breakfast. But at least, we did go swim at the infinity pool. That item on Mama's list was ticked off.
After a lovely breakfast consisting of an eclectic mix of both local (chicken porridge, fried rice, various treats usually found in the traditional market, yum!) and international (eggs and bread stuff), it was time to check out of the hotel. It was early yet, but Mama did have a few things on Mama's list while we are in town, you see....
Here was the decoration that they have at the lobby. The building is a model of the famous church in the city, Gereja Bledug, if I'm not mistaken. Don't forget, we were there during the days before Christmas!
Anyway, that was our second day on our road trip, the early part, anyway. The rest of the day this Mama believes warrant their own post, judging from the number of pics that Mama took. We'll try to do that as soon as possible.
In the meantime, if you'd like to follow in our footsteps visiting the city of Semarang, you might consider the hotel. It's Best Western Star Hotel, Semarang. Cheers!
