This Mama was cleaning around the house when she looked up and saw the picture frame above. An old old picture of Kecil "swimming" not long after our arrival here. A quick look around the house made me realize, just how many swimming/pool picture had been printed out to be displayed. I guess this Mama is indeed very proud of her water baby.
And perhaps it's a pretty good time to go through the progress here.

Oct 2009 |
A month after we hit the shore, I believe we were celebrating the arrival of sunshine that day. Just like this year, the weather was extremely wet that year and we were very much confined to the house for the whole first month of our arrival.
|
Jan 2010 |
A few months later, Kecil is more confident in water, even if she still stayed at the stairs and needed holding around the rest of the pool.
|
Feb 2010 |
We met a good friend here (who had moved since, but we still do keep in touch!)
|
Aug 2010 |
There were times when we did not plan on swimming and she ended up swimming naked. (No more such thing, haven't been for a long while!)
|
May 2011 |
Then there was a hiatus of pics as Mama's old camera died and Mama stopped bringing camera to the pool. It was 4 months after getting the BIG camera before Mama dared to bring it to the pool. By then, Kecil had moved on to a
new swimming suit as well as a red car float.
Then that red float suffered a puncture somewhere. I think no thanks to all the brambles growing around
the slope which we climbed every time we want to go to the swimming pool. Some of its thorn must have punctured the float. And so, for a while,
Daddy had to stand on duty holding Kecil while she 'swam'.

Nov 2011 |
It was a while before we found a good replacement float, this time simply a small ring. It went with Kecil's green suit for a while, that is until she outgrew the suit (the two-piece ceased to cover her belly button, hence it was considered 'outgrown')
|
Mar 2012 |
So there she was, with
the pink suit that Eyang bought her, and the no longer matching float. Mama was not going to buy her a new one since it was working fine, no puncture, no nothing. It turned out to be a wise decision too, for it wasn't long afterwards that Kecil
learned to jump and swim, and started leaving the float behind.

Apr 2012 |
I guess the float kind of cramped her style, especially when doing her cannon ball jumps into the pool.
|
Sept 2012 |
But here we are now, with the current retro swimsuit (which, by the way, is also fast getting too small and 'furry'). I do hope you enjoy the journey through time of Kecil's swimming stories at the pool.
This pool had indeed seen the Little Girl grown through the 3 years we've stayed here. It's not quite "our backyard" pool, but pretty damn close, and among many other things, is one of the reasons for being grateful for our stay in these faraway isles.
The collected swim stories (especially those not covered here) can be found under the label
"swim", or you can click through the links that was sprinkled through the post. Cheers!
