Back to the big pool

With the ever increasing regularity of clear blue skies and the accompanying soaring temperatures, the other weekend found us back at this big pool, where Mama & Daddy can cool down while still maintaining the appearance of 'doing some exercise'.

Kecil? She may not look too happy to be swimming, but once Mama took out the red camera, she immediately got busy modelling.

We do seem to love our underwater camera very much, don't we? Well... there is that. But we also love the fact that Kecil seem to enjoy swimming. Why, this Mama is happy to report that, on our last trip to the big pool yesterday, Kecil managed to do a total of 2 (TWO!) laps! Plus one more assisted with the board.  Two complete laps in what looks like an almost olympic sized pool, I am one proud Mama, all right.
And to think that this Mama was still close to being dragged to get into the deep water pool (first day of swimming lesson then) when she was 7 years old? Shame on Mama. Haha....

This water baby, in comparison, was already jumping into the pool without any dragging involved at all. Haha...  Why, some other time, she even asked to be thrown around.

In a way it was good to repeat our activities, since we usually learn from experience. Like the fact that the water is pretty cold despite the sunny weather. Kecil couldn't last that long swimming because her body temperature dropped after a while. So.. yesterday we actually brought a thermos of hot chocolate along. She loved it.

And of course, there was the sun-block, something which we did not bring a long on our first trip. Look at the completely slathered little girl:

Kudos for your great efforts, Little One! We do look forward to having your doing laps with Mama and Daddy (and maybe even Eyangs!) the next time. Cheers!

Swimming in School

Between the carpool and the fact that Kecil is now getting bigger, this Mama does not quite spend a lot of time hovering around her anymore, especially in school. But when it came to the first swim of the term..... now that's a different thing, isn't it?

Sometime last month, the weather finally let up, and the teachers finally started rolling the kids through a rotation for a swim at the pool. Parents were invited to volunteer, but even without the invitation, this Mama was curious enough to come anyway.
Of course, on the D Day, this silly Mama came waay to early, and spent quite a bit of time taking pictures before finally the kids emerged from the school building.

Already in their swimming suit, lined up in a line like very cute little ducklings..... aren't they adorable?
Anyway, before anyone got into water, it was time for some safety briefing. Very important!
The rules: no running around the pool, everyone must be in the water, no touching or splashing without unless the other party is agreeable.
Sensible rules.

And once the formalities were done... it was splashing time!

Those kids obviously had a capital time. Rest assured that they do get regular dose of wet activities at the school pool (they do!).
Until then!

Water babies

The good weather continued to hold last week. So, when it got really hot, we went swimming.

We, as in Kecil, her Mama and her Gang.

And since Mama got the waterproof camera, we took turn posing and taking pictures. We posed above water:

Then we posed underwater:

Oh ya, except for Mama and this Mr. Spiderman over here. I guess water is not for spiders, or Spidermen.

Still, the girls seemed to have fun in the water:

This Mama does hope that along with all the fun, everyone would benefit from some learning how to swim. After all, I firmly believe that kids should know how to swim, especially those who live in the vicinity of the sea! Here's hoping for more sunny days for more swimming fun!

Summer 2013

This weekend found us trying out a new spot (for us) in town, for a spot of swimming, of course.
Clear blue skies, soaring temperatures, they all conspired to bring us to this quiet spot....

... where Kecil can practice some swimming (or piggy-backing on Daddy's back!) ...

... some levitation exercises ...

... or even the run-of-the-mill underwater photograph with Mama (who just got herself a new set of swimming suit, yes).

Oh yeah, on this side of the ocean, summer has indeed arrived. Happy summer!

Daily stuff

Kecil and friend in the swimming pool

We have barely scratched the surface on the holiday stories, with at least a few more posts dedicated on the doings during that few days holiday.
But we just want to let you know that things have returned to 'normal' around here, you know, as normal as we know it around here, which means things such as swimming to cool down in the hot afternoons.... (with a friend, no less)

Kecil pretend-cooking

Playing 'cooking' during a visit to a friend's house in her princessy outfit ....

Kecil in school uniform at the doctor's office
Grabbing papers from the counter at the doctor's office straight from Skool ...

Kecil playing with Ikea train set with friend

Showing off her new toys to her friend... (Aak! My girl has a boy in her room!)

You know, normal, daily things. But of course, normal is only as normal or extra-ordinary as you make them to be. I personally think that Kecil thinks her 'normal' as pretty awesome, indeed. How about you?

Active Childhood

Just as I thought Kecil was getting a bit distant from her friend, Ami, last week happened.
That was when Kecil already started school, but not Ami. So... after a whole day just at home, come afternoon (once Kecil came home from Skool), she would come looking for Kecil.
Which was how Mama ended up spending the whole afternoon ... taking pictures. Ahem.

Well... why not? Especially when the subject in question happens to be two very cute, pink, little athletes?

And what athletes they made! The jumped, splashed, laughed and giggled semi-histerically, shouted, played, and repeated the whole cycle all over again.

The best part? After all that swimming, they actually still have more energy to do this:

Oh yeah. They were still game enough to follow Mama for walkies with Penny. Ahem... Well... more like Mama and Penny following them, actually.

You see what I meant? And on the big road!
I was only hoping that I did train my kid (and her friend!) enough on road safety to stick to the side of the road.
Apparently I did, because we did arrive safely at our destination for more play.

Quite unbelievable, these kids. Oh well, but this Mama is not going to argue. If nothing else, Kecil's (and her friends') active childhood will keep this Mama from going even larger. Haha...

Here's for more active days ahead!
