Minnie & Bunny

Do you still remember Bunny? You can go here for the Bunny story. But just in case you are feeling lazy, here's a pic:

Baby & Bunny
And as for Minnie? It wasn't that long ago that we acquired Minnie, right?

The point is that these two are Kecil's best (inanimate) friends. Just take a look at what greets me as I stepped out the house the other day:

The whole Gang
But that day was fine, because I think we were just playing outside.

Yet another day, when we were going for our daily walk...
(Do I really have to add that it happen to be a day when Mama decided that she's too lazy to lug around the big camera?Ahem)

Ugh oh... Yup. The whole gang, with the two littlest strapped on the bike.
Not simply sitting, mind you, strapped.

The Little Walker
Now obviously Kecil has done some 'training' that she can indeed complete our normal rounds. There are times, however, when she simply prefers to be pushed around by Mama.
That day, with the two other Littles?
Well... they managed, somehow.

As to where we went... just scroll on, and you can come along as well!

Frolicking at the playground with the two additional Littles? Sure, why not.
Especially when she obviously enjoyed herself oh so very much.

Running around with the Littles
With the last additional thing to do, just because she can do it:

Washing hand at the old water spout

Vintage weekend: Baby Pram

Smiley Baby in the Pram
More smiley Baby in the Pram
Just because we really love that Pram,
And Kecil's been playing with it around the house these past few days..
We really do love that Pram

field trip: the beach

The Life Guard's post
It was a field trip to a beach resort, yes? So obviously there is some beach somewhere there.
And indeed there was, a beautiful, pristine white, sandy beach, with mild waves and warm water right underneath the vivid blue sky.
It just happen that beaches are not quite in the top ten of Kecil's favorite things.
And she would rather stay on this side of the barrier, thank you very much.

THIS side of the barrier
Still, I suppose the beach still make for an amazing backdrop up there.
As to why she does not have a great love for the beach? Well... maybe thanks to her mountain-dweller of a mother, who is still learning to love swimming in the sea water?
Or would it just be the sand that goes everywhere, especially in the shoe department?

Eek, sandy shoes, Mama!
But then again, maybe the hot sun above might have something to do with her reluctance as well.
In any case, we decided to move away from the beach, and walking back to the resort compound, we were greeted with a sight of this lovely rock of a bowl:

Huge flower in a rock bowl filled up with water, accessorized with a wooden/coconut scoop
Ain't it cute? These bowls are everywhere, their sole purpose is to provide water for washing sandy feet and shoes so that both the person entering the area and the area itself, can be relatively less  umm... sandy. Hehe..
Staring in incomprehension
It was a hit with Kecil once she figured out what it was for.
So we walked around the compound. Here's one of the many dining areas available:

Outdoor dining tables
I am so in love with that basket just slightly away from the table. Not only I covet one of those for my own laundry basket at home, the availability of one near the table is simply brilliant, don't you think?
Ahem, please note that they are NOT rubbish bin, but rather a storage solution for your (normally gigantic) beach bags and what nots.
So, you can appreciate the brilliance of the idea? Me thought so.

Scattered around the area are also these bird-house-like structures, which I dub 'water-house' since it is indeed their function: to provide drinking water for the thirsty guests.
Kecil was sooo intriqued by the house, she nagged me to no end just to get her water from the water-house countless times. Seriously.

Water-house
There was a little bridge over a small pond near the entrance, around which loitered a few white ducks.
Watching the ducks
The ducks in question

It was all and all a beautiful place. We are really glad we went for the trip

This Mama does realize that this post does not really have a lot of frontal pics of the Little One. Well... one needs some change, right? Let's just take it as the Little One's view, shall we? Mama will try to include more pics of her highness next time.

field trip: the pool

Water baby
Somehow Kecil ended up being the first one in the pool. But then again, are we really surprised?
Ha!
Yah, basically the baby pool was the first destination of the group.
It was beautiful, only about 60cm deep, with plenty of seats around. So ideal for a bunch of half awake little kids.

Toys aboard
The trip being to a beach resort, Mama actually made an extra effort to collect Kecil's beach toys (which, by the way, had never seen real action on the beach) to bring along.
Kecil is very happy with them, but not so happy about sharing them with the other kids.
Oh dear, we still have a long way to go on this one, borrowing, shared ownership and such.

Running up the stairs to...?
And here is Kecil, suddenly running up the stairs. ???

Hmm.. ya, I'll have you know that there is actually a proper water slide right next to the pool,
And of course such a presence proved to be too much a challenge for the Little One.

The water slide in the background
Can you see the waterslide?
The thing with water slide is that no matter how small or how gently sloped the slide, there is water at the end,
And if you do not control your slide well, ya... you really get IN the water, even in a very shallow pool.

Still, these are facts which are beyond the Kid's understanding, so she went on.
She actually even went for a second ride when she lost her balance somewhere along the slide and went into the water in an unglamorous heap.
Then for the third ride, she actually dragged her Mama along. Ha!

Stop!

Then we got stopped by the lifeguard. Hehe...

I don't think life was easy that day for the lifeguards on duty. The one in charge actually had to ask for a back up because kids kept on crowding at the mouth of the slide, which is dangerous should someone come sliding down. They might get kicked into water or something.

Anyway, after the third slide, Kecil seemed to lost her appetite for more pool activities, so we got dressed and went on somewhere else for other things to do.

field trip: going

Blueeehh...
Kecil's field trip on Monday was this beach resort about half an hour drive away from the city.
We met up in school pretty early, just so we can get there before the sun is too hot for outdoor activities.
And as you can see, Kecil is none to happy about being awake so early.
Or maybe she found that her coffee taste horrible?

Waiting on the curb
But of course, as expected, we were 'early' despite being on time. Which means that we had to wait for the rest to turn up. Such is life, isn't it?

In the play room @ Skool
But at least the waiting also means that Kecil got to play in the playroom while we wait for the rest.

With Daddy
Daddy had kindly volunteered to drive us to the resort, both for the pleasure of driving with the family as well as to have a look at the resort. It is a pity that he could not join us for the day, though, for the resort is absolutely beautiful.

Kissing Daddy bye bye
Ah well, instead of joining us enjoying the whole day, Daddy had to leave and went back to work. So after a few pecks on the cheeks, off Daddy went, and Kecil set off to her day at the resort.

(We are continuing with the story tomorrow, in installment, as Mama had to work on other deadlines as well. Do stay tune, and I do hope you are enjoying it so far)

busy days...

Little Feet... running...
Funny how days can go without any inspiration to write,
And then BAM! so many things, so many photos, so many stories to tell until it become so difficult to sort out.

Those two feet above had gone everywhere, indeed,
Running, exploring, getting dirty, getting wet, climbing, jumping, dancing...
Oh, they have been around

They have been around walking at the Food Festival on Saturday at the B School (not her own school, but the international school nearby)

There was the playground to play in...
The Playground @ B School
The school indoor basketball court...

Even the huge balooney trampoline full of jumping kids of all ages...

And that was only on Saturday.
Yesterday, Kecil was off on her first ever school field trip to a beach resort nearby, where she spent the whole day frolicking, arts crafting and generally having fun.

Practicing her supermodel poses in the swimming pool
What can Mama say?
It will definitely take some time while we work out all the excitement from our systems.
But do stay tune for the pics, at the very least.
Out of the 300 odd pictures that the shutter-happy Mama had taken over the 3 days period, there bound to be some decent ones to share.
But maybe that will also take turn with regular posting from the daily happenings.

In the meantime, we certainly hope that your weekend had been great too, and that your week had started with a bang.

hair...

Despite her family's concerted effort to keep her 'properly' outfitted from head to toe, Kecil had managed to so far resisted Mama's effort to tackle the curly mess that is her hair.
Following few choice requests from the family, Mama had not cut Kecil's hair since like... a year ago,
And as a result... it's been growing, and growing and growing...
Which is not so bad, considering the kinds of things you can do to a little girl's hair (oh... the possibilities!)
Until the Kid herself resist any such effort to 'dress' her hair up.
She prefers her hair down as is, thank you very much.

Until she got a Hello Kitty clip from a classmate's birthday pack.
Uh oh, no school day is complete without the clip
Which is also the reason why she lost it so quickly, right before any photo was taken, that is.

Thankfully, not long afterward, we got a pair of decorative combs when we bought a doll for her,
The decorative comb was happily snatched and requests were made for Mama to put it on the hair
So... we have now Kecil with knots on her hair.

Presenting:

Just woke up and snatched away to send Mama to school
Cute?

The only problem is that the combs, being combs, are quite prone to falling off.
Still, it seems to be staying on WAY longer than any other forms of hair accessories, so....

And here's her highness with only one knot...

She watches too much TV
A proper little Cut Nyak Dien, you said?

Vintage weekend: Milestone

There was a time, not so very long ago, when this was a huge milestone, indeed.
Being able to 'stand' on her feet, even if it's not quite really standing standing.
And today she's already climbing walls and sofas and the steep slope behind the house.

Here's to cheer for even more milestones in the future.

THE photo

Kecil's Skool conducted a school photo session a while back, the result of which we finally received this week.
It was a real cause for joy, around here, no little part due to Kecil's reaction to the Photo.

She, ah, recognize clearly herself, especially in the individual photo,
And had immediately staked a claim of ownership to the said article,
Much to the ... despair of Mama, who was already thinking of logistics of sharing the article with the rest of the family back home.
Kids, as you all know, are not the gentlest creatures when it comes to most inanimate object
A sheet of photo?
Oh... it can be torn, folded, drooled upon...
And all these can happen before I get to show it to the family?
Oh no, Kiddo, you're gonna get this Mama murdered.

So, the photos was instantly framed upon reaching home using some spare frames Mama happen to have. Voila!

Framed and placed at its own place of honor
The story did not end there, as Kecil re-staked her claim, and chose a place of honor for the said framed picture of herself!

So... if I move back a bit from the photo to give you a better view of the 'place of honor', here's what I get:

THIS is where it's going to be, Mama, and it's staying here
The frame is right next to the staircase, just about her height, all 94cm of her. Yup!

And next to it?
Apparently the installation also came with a little demon who would prevent pesky Mama's from trying to move the frame. Ahem.
She can think ahead, that kid.
I have to admit that.

Maybe this one below will give you a better perspective?
See the little Demon? She's so not budging anywhere, I tell you!

And this is after I took that first picture up there of the frame.
Mama got shoo-ed away. Hmmm....

Sunday is...

Checking out the flowers

... not really a day for regular posts, because Sunday is special.
... is a day when everybody is at home, from morning till night, no school, no work, no nothing

So... it is a day for play, for rest, for experimenting, for the odd job out
For things to do that can be shared during the week, like the following (yet another Sunday's) photoshoot:

And since Sunday is the day for the odd jobs around the house, Sunday was the day when we had the curtains on the drying line, perfect for some play with the Little One, and a photoshoot:

We do love our crazy hot, lazy Sundays around here. How about you? Do you have any special activities lined up for your Sundays?

Vintage weekend: Smiles

Just because there are just days when we need more smiles then other days...

June 09: crawling
Feb 09: drooling
Dec 08: peeping
Nov 08: laughing
It's been a pretty tough week around here.
So with all the smiles, wishing all of us a better week next week.
Have a good weekend!

during late afternoon walks...

We do get to see quite a few things on our daily walks,

We see long shadows...

Some treasure that Kecil insisted Mama pick up...

But most interestingly, Mama's been encountering a certain cute little man,

Who smiled, and said Hi, and really made Mama smile...

Wearing his traditional head gear....

Just one thing, though. His face is blue.

Have you spot him yet?

Boo!

(Thank you GramMa. This Mama sure loves that hat. Hahaha.....)
